An ex EDM fanboy, who claims to have “grown out of that shit years ago”, has admitted that he is really starting to regret the Avicii tattoo he got on his forearm in late 2013.
Twenty-six-year-old Josh Murphy doesn’t believe getting the “Avicii is Life” tattoo is the worst decision he has ever made but admitted that it was definitely in his top three.
“What can I say? I was young and dumb, I’d seen Avicii play at a couple of festivals and I thought he was the greatest thing to come out of Sweden since Victoria Silvstedt,” explained Murphy earlier. “I got the album True and I honestly believed that Hey Brother was the greatest song ever written, I managed to convince myself that the whole album was an instant classic and that I’d still be listening to it when I was an old man.”
“That opinion lasted for about six months. Unfortunately, within that time, I got this monstrosity put on my arm,” revealed Murphy, a realtor from upstate New York. “It was such a dick move, I can’t even wear short sleeves to work now, anytime someone sees it I have to make up some excuse about Avicii being Latin for family or some shit like that.”
According to Mr Murphy, he first realised EDM was shit in 2015 after stumbling across the Resistance stage at Ultra Music Festival in Miami.
“At first, when I was still going to EDM parties, people would spot the tattoo and tell me how cool it was but I’m not into that scene anymore,” he continued. “Once I discovered real house and techno I gave that shit up straight away. No, when I’m out at good parties and people spot the tattoo they just laugh at me. It’s so fucking embarrassing.”
