While listening to a track from the Beatport Tech-House chart DJ Alex Purcell, a love of all things tech-house like shuffling and barely dancing, has expressed his enthusiasm that the track keeps in line with the current crop of tech-house by not “really going anywhere”.
“This track is fucking amazing,” gushed Alex displaying emotion. “Did you hear that climax? No, me neither, that’s because there isn’t one. Amazing.”
Explaining how he loves nothing more than listening to tech-house tracks that he “can just sort of zone out of while pouting or rubbing [his] chin pensively” he says that “tech-house helps to keep the dance floor respectful for people who are there to listen to the music pretentiously, not have a good time”.
“I love how the track started with a sound, developed that in the opening bars then just kept doing that for 8 or so minutes, that’s what you call class. I really hope the next one is broadly similar,” continued Alex before claiming that if he didn’t notice the difference between the two tracks without checking the track list then “you know it’s good”.
“No, you don’t really want any kind of progression or kick-in,” explained Alex when asked whether it was better to have some semblance of structure and momentum in the track. “When you anticipate a kick-in and the track doesn’t do it. That’s the kick-in.”
“I love tech-house cause it lets me just feel the groove while closing my eyes and swaying for 6 hours. What other genre has that lethargic lack of bluster that really let’s you conserve energy for the three day long after party?”
“Boring is the new banging,” he concluded.
