Alan Partridge To Present New EDM Show On BBC Radio 1
The BBC have announced that fictional television and radio personality, Alan Partridge, is set to host a new EDM show on Radio 1.
Partridge, best known for presenting The Day Today and Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge, is set to return to the BBC this summer after stints on Radio Norwich and North Norfolk Digital and fill the lovable dickhead shaped hole left by Jeremy Clarkson’s sacking in Broadcasting House.
According to BBC insiders, there is a “real buzz about the place” ahead of Partridge’s return and production staff are “queuing up” to become part of his team.
“Alan will be presenting a weekly three hour show on Radio 1,” confirmed BBC executive Ben Cooper. “The show is going to be called Big Room with Partridge and it will air between six and nine o’clock, allowing EDM fans, most of whom are under the age of twelve, to listen to the show before bedtime.”
“We feel that Alan is the perfect presenter for an EDM show,” continued Cooper. “On account of him not being a real person and EDM not being real music. It’s a match made in heaven, or whatever version of the afterlife you believe in, we don’t discriminate here, unless you don’t believe in any, in that case you’re a buffoon.”
Partridge is sad to be literally “counting the days” until his new show starts. We caught up with him briefly earlier today.
“First off I’d just like to say, how’d you like this Chris Moyles? Who’s the pathetic loser now?” he asked while grinning like the Cheshire Cat. “The answer is you Moyles. I’m back on the Beeb, driving a brand new second hand Range Rover and living in more than adequate lodgings while you’re most probably off in a gutter in Hungary eating hummus out of a shoe.”
“It’s a very exciting time for all of you listeners too, I’m finally back where I belong and you can all look forward to getting your weekly fix of Partridge every Saturday evening,” continued the modest host. “I’m not really sure what EDM is but I heard it comes from Holland, it must be some kind of lazy cheese maker or EU monetary policy, but there’ll be plenty of time to figure that out before the show starts.”
Big Room with Partridge is set to hit the air waves on Saturday 30th May.
