Martin Garrix’s New Festival Anthem Sounds Terrible In Nightclub, As Well As At Festival

Dutch EDM superstar Martin Garrix’s latest festival anthem apparently sounds terrible in a nightclub, as well as at a festival.

The aptly named track, Poison, is Garrix’s first independent release since leaving Spinnin’ Records and has been made available as a free download on the teenager’s Soundcloud page.

“Now that Martin has walked away from Spinnin’ Records he has a lot more creative freedom when producing tracks,” explained Garrix’s PR guru Tony Alderwood. “Unfortunately having that much freedom is not always a good thing and I think Poison is evidence of that. We gave it the name because myself and Martin’s tour manager both became physically sick after hearing it for the first time.”

“Martin wanted to create a really big festival sound that was only suited to huge sound systems so the track actually sounds terrible when played on a regular club system,” revealed the PR expert. “Unfortunately the track also sounds terrible at a festival and from a stereo or pretty much any type of device that’s capable of playing music.”

“We decided to give it away as a free download because, quite frankly, I don’t think there’s anyone in the world who would have been stupid enough to buy it,” claimed Alderwood. “Well maybe Afrojack or Steve Aoki, most EDM DJs actually, but not normal people.”

Garrix, best known for being Tiësto’s protege and possible love child, is said to be “delighted” with how his latest track sounds and “doesn’t care what [his] tour manager or PR advisor think” because they’re both “old fuddy-duddies who wouldn’t know EDM if it jumped up and kicked them in the face”
