A heavy metal fan who attended his first ever rave last weekend had a musical awakening and has decided to start making electronic music.
Tim Connor’s life was dramatically changed after he reluctantly attended the rave with some friends to celebrate a birthday.
“I really didn’t want to go. I thought dance music was just candy floss pop made by people like Scooter and Calvin Harris, “explained Tim, “I had horrible images of it being like that awkward unnecessary ‘rave’ scene from The Matrix Reloaded.”
“The moment I walked up to the derelict building and could feel the throbbing bass I felt in my gut that this would be something different, “Tim entused, “once I got inside there was just this dark, primal energy that grabbed me by the balls. I danced for about 8 hours straight.”
Tim described how his exposure to ‘proper balls out techno’ made him completely rethink the way he thought about music. “I used to be a really intense, angsty teenager. Dance music has made me realise that music isn’t about self harm or Satan. Or screaming lyrics about self harm and Satan into a microphone until I’m hoarse. It’s the opposite of that.”
Explaining the transformation that has come over him, Tim, went on to claim that he’s “going to learn to make my own beats, I’ve downloaded a ripped version of Reason and sold my guitar. I even changed my Facebook cover photo from a picture of Metallica to a picture of Dave Clarke so people are aware of my new identity.”
