It has been confirmed that Sven Väth will be responsible for creating the soundtrack to Disney’s remake of Beauty and the Beast, which is due for release in 2017.
Despite being somewhat of an obscure booking, fifty one year old Sven spoke to Wunderground and is delighted to be involved, “Without a shadow of a doubt this is the best thing to have ever happened in my life.”
“I am a huge fan of the Disney movies. Growing up I had Little Mermaid wallpaper, Alice in Wonderland bed covers and Pinocchio pyjamas – so I’m certain I’ll be able to capture the essence of Disney, whilst throwing a sick techno spin on things.”

Cocoon head-honcho Sven, who is famed for his joyful approach to DJing, was at one stage believed to be in the running to create the soundtrack for Disney’s 2016 version of The Jungle Book, however, he eventually lost out on the role to old school jungle DJ’s Fabio and Grooverider.
“Yeah, first of all, I put myself forward for The Jungle Book job but the bosses over at Disney opted for Fabio and Grooverider as they’re true old school junglist’s and have a better understanding of the audience. Fair play to them boys, they know their stuff and this is a huge booking. I look forward to seeing Mowgli, Baloo and Shere Khan on an IMAX cinema screen with that dirty bassline in the background.”
It is believed Sven was carefully selected by Disney’s talent scouts due to his 1994 techno anthem, The Beauty and the Beast, which was released as on ode to the original animated version of the film which came out in the early nineties.
“When the animated version came out in 1991, I was twenty five years old and just hitting the big time but I needed that one club banger to propel me to stardom. I remember sitting in the studio needing inspiration, so I drew on my childhood devotion and love of Disney to help me create a fuckin’ brilliant record. Honestly, it’s a belter and to this day remains my best work,” revealed Väth.
“I won’t be using the original of this tune in the new movie, but keep your eye peeled for a fresh remix of it during that simply adorable scene when Belle and Beast fall in love whilst dancing in front of Lumiere, Cogsworth and Mrs. Potts.”
Disney management has since gone on record to categorically deny that Jeff Mills, Loco Dice and Scuba have joined Sven in the studio with an ambition to create a new sound of music called ‘Disno’, which fuses Disney and Techno together – aimed at catching the next generation of ravers.
