Britain’s Got Talent contestant Susan Boyle, who has achieved international fame based on being considered an ugly woman with a beautiful voice, is set to “go for more of an EDM” sound on her next album, according to a management spokesperson who claims she is keen to break into the lucrative “celebrity EDM” circuit.
The album, set to be produced by Afrojack, will be an electro-house/EDM/trance re-imagining of her 2009 breakthrough I Dreamed A Dream, which is being touted under the working title I Dropped A Dream.
Afrojack, who produced the track Good Time for hotel heiress turned celebrity sex tape star turned CDJ model, Paris Hilton, was enthusiastic about the prospect of working with the Britain’s Got Talent phenomenon claiming, “I’ll work with anyone for a price.”
“I literally give no fucks who I work with, if Rebecca Black wants to follow up Friday then she can give me a call,” he added. “If anyone reading this out there wants to make a paint-by-numbers generic EDM track and has the money to do it, I’m your man,” offered Afrojack, stopping short of giving his personal number and email to potential customers.
Simon Cowell is reportedly set to executive produce the album saying he wants to take a break “from prostituting pop music by forming bland after bland composed of generic sounding wannabe popstars that ultimately make [him] more money” to “doing a broadly similar thing, except with EDM”.
“I don’t know why people are doubting that Susan is capable of recording an EDM album,” said Simon, when the question was put to him that Susan might not be a good fit for the EDM market and that his touting of the album could be seen as a shameless attempt to cash-in on a lucrative scene. “Susan grew up with acid house, she wasn’t that into it, but she was alive at the same time.”
“She is however a huge admirer of early big room house, not to mention trance. She once told me that she honed her voice by singing along to Delerium’s Silence for hours at a time.”
“So making an EDM album is not a huge departure for her,” he added. “If she can somehow manage to look like she’s had ten kids without ever having been kissed then she can lay down some vocals over a basic electro-house riff.”
The album is expected to be released this summer in time for the Ibiza season where it is expected she will be offered an Amnesia residency entitled Eyebrows & Farts.
