Nightmares On Wax has confirmed that the remainder of his North American tour has been cancelled due to sleep deprivation.
Nightmares On Wax, real name George Evelyn, traveled to America earlier this month for the nine date tour but has suffered from exhaustion after experiencing a series of unnerving nightmares.
Nightmares On Wax’s North American Agent, Kip Napperson, made this statement earlier today, “George will be heading home to Leeds in the morning for such much needed respite and relaxation.”
“He’s an incredibly light sleeper and suffers from a number of sleeping disorders including night terrors and sleep paralysis so an extended period away from home was always ambitious. He has asked me to apologise to all of his fans on his behalf and promises that he will be back soon.”
According to Martin Marsh, a close friend of Evelyn’s, the tour was doomed from the moment the DJ left his house, “George is a notoriously bad sleeper, it’s no secret, that’s why he called himself Nightmares On Wax.”
“He really struggles in strange surroundings unless he has his security blanket with him and unfortunately he forgot to pack it in his bag for America,” revealed Marsh. “He calls it Johnny Giles and he’s totally fine when he has it, but when he doesn’t, he’s a bag of nerves, he’s probably been awake since he left here. I’m surprised he lasted as long as he has to be honest with you.”
Nightmares On Wax is expected to go straight to his childhood home upon his arrival in Leeds where he will sleep in his parents bed for up five days in an attempt to catch up on sleep.
“It’s the only place I can really sleep properly,” explained Evelyn in an interview he gave Mixmag last year. “Ideally I’d have my parents on either side of me but I’m a bit old for that and the bed seems a lot smaller these days but once I’ve got Johnny Giles tucked between my legs I know I’ll get a good night’s sleep.”
Nightmares On Wax is expected to return to America later this year where a cocktail of valium and Johnny Giles will help him honour all of the cancelled gigs from his ill fated tour.
