An ecstasy store in Amsterdam which was handing out placebo pills to the general public last Monday has been credited by drug takers for its pills being “stronger than most ecstasy available now anyway”.
The store was set up as an experiment by the Dutch Liberal Democrat’s Youth Wing in an attempt to highlight the need for drug regulation.
What was originally thought by the general public to be a free pill giveaway, turned out – to everyone’s disappointment – to be a demonstration of how to safely sell ecstasy over the counter legally.
But that did not stop a significant proportion of those who queued up to purchase the fake drug, claiming that they could feel the effects of ecstasy.
“This stuff is crazy man,” said a glazy eyed Cobus outside the store, completely unaware that the drug was fake.
“I just fucking love everyone,” said Alexandra, a tearful young girl who was busy hugging a nearby lamppost.
Upon being told of the drug’s placebic nature those claiming to be “off their face” ceased being quite so erratic. With a look of slight embarrassment, Cobus told Wunderground: “It is still better than any shit I’ve had from a dealer here in the past few years.”
Following the day’s events, it is believed that local drug dealers are now actively seeking these placebo pills as a substitute for their sub-standard drugs.
