Having people try to remember which acts they saw at a festival was today recognised as the world’s hardest test of a person’s memory.
Pipping other memory tests like the generation game, your own name on ket and 90s footballers, trying to remember which acts you saw at a festival is the most difficult.
The study claimed that the contributing factors like alcohol, lack of sleep, all festivals eventually seeming the same and drugs, made it almost impossible for people to remember exactly who they saw at a festival.
“I remember a few of the first acts on Friday but then the rest of the weekend is a blur,” explained Adam Blessington, who tried the memory test after attending a festival last weekend. “To be honest I don’t actually really remember what day anyone was on, I’d have to look at a lineup to have a vague idea of who I saw.”
“All the days are blurred into one at this stage, thankfully though I took a load of photos so should be able to reasonably track my movements over the course of the weekend,” he added. “Although I am able to remember with precision exactly how much I spent at the festival and the early morning buzz back in the tent.”
Most people, concluded the study, will eventually have minor flashbacks of being in a specific tent but will be unable to identify which DJ was playing or any tracks.
