News emerging from the west of Africa this afternoon suggests that a trance fan with fluffy white hair is considered a “bit of a black sheep” by his house music loving family.
Victor Adebayo, a twenty three year old from Lagos, Nigeria, has been unsuccessfully running the city’s only trance club night, Trancecontinental, for the last six months.
“It has been a very tough time for me since I started Trancecontinental,” confirmed Victor during a chat with Wunderground earlier today. “Running a trance night here in Lagos is a logistical nightmare, most of our locals are into tribal house or progressive so we just don’t have the numbers to fill the club.”
“It’s been a real strain on my personal life over the last few months, and mt relationships with my family and friends have really suffered due to the stress I’ve been under,” revealed Victor, who bases his hairstyle on Britain’s Queen Elizabeth’s look. “I really can’t see Trancecontinental lasting past the end of year, we only had six people show up to the last gig and we had Nigeria’s biggest trance DJ, my neighbour Robert, he’s almost twenty stone, as the headliner.”
According to Victor’s Mother, Magdalene, her son has always been the “black sheep” of the family.
“Victor always wants to different,” explained Magdalene. “Whether he’s dying his hair white or listening to trance he always wants to stand out from the crowd. He’s been exactly the same since he was a child, all the other boys wanted to play football but he just wanted to play music. At first we thought he was gay but now we know it’s much worse than that, he’s a trance a fan. I don’t know what he thinks is so wrong with being exactly the same as everyone else?”
“These trance parties are the last straws,” continued Magdalene. “If he doesn’t stop promoting that nonsense I’ll be left with no choice but to get myself a new son. It’s not 1999 anymore. I just wish he’d listen to something that we can all enjoy together.”
According to sources close to Victor, the promoter is planning a “big move” next year, with Dublin’s Blanchardstown thought to be his preferred destination. The working class area is believed to be one of Europe’s multicultural trance strongholds and would present numerous opportunities for a man with Victor’s talents.
