Six time snooker world champion Steve Davis has told friends that he plans on “really enjoying” his debut DJ appearance at this year’s Bloc Weekender and will bring a bit of white, a bit of brown, a bit of green and some blueys to the festival with him.
Long resigned to the outer peripheries of professional snooker, Davis, fifty eight, has taken to the airwaves in recent years and now presents a show on Phoenix FM where he can be heard playing anything from prog rock to techno.
“Steve found out he was going to be playing Bloc at the end of the summer and he’s been really excited and practicing around the clock ever since,” revealed Davis’s close friend Annie Chalke earlier today. “Most of the practice he’s been doing involves taking drugs that correspond with different coloured balls on a snooker table.”
“Nobody’s expecting him to be a great DJ so he’s not really too worried about getting his set down or his mixing tight. He’s more worried about not being able to handle his drugs and making a fool of himself,” she claimed. “So he’s pretty much been caining it for the last three months to ensure his tolerance is nice and high when he arrives in Minehead.”
“He’s planning on mostly using the white, like a snooker player white is very important to a DJ, it’ll be his social drug for the weekend,” continued Ms. Chalke. “He’ll mostly be using the brown when he’s in his chalet, again, like in snooker, it won’t be that prevalent in the overall scheme off things. He’ll be using the green to take the edge off everything and make sure he doesn’t see red and the blueys will be just to make sure he can sleep at night. He’s a very meticulous planner and think it will really show when he’s at the festival.”
“He’ll probably buy a few tunes and prepare a set a couple of weeks before the festival but for now he’s happy with his current training regime.”
According to festival organiser, Davis’s set will coincide with a one off happy hour at the festival where all drinks will be £1.47 for the duration of the DJs set.
