Berlin based techno emporium Berghain has announced that, for one night only, the music will subside to screen all ten hour long episodes of the hit true crime web television series Making A Murderer.
The screening will take place this Friday night, starting at eleven and finishing up some time around ten o’clock on Saturday morning.
Berghain’s Creative Director, Adeline Bosch, spoke to Wunderground about the upcoming event, “Here at Berghain we’ve made a couple of New Year’s resolutions, one of which is to actively embrace popular culture and try to work it into our club nights in a cool and positive way. Making a Murderer seems to be one of the most popular things around at the moment so we’ve decided to host a night, this Friday, that will be completely dedicated to showing all ten episodes of the show.”
Berghain regulars are divided about the club’s latest announcement. Petra, a twenty three year old poi performer said, “I don’t think they should be showing a TV show in Berghain, we go there to get away from all of that shit not to be engrossed in it. Berghain isn’t about TV shows or American culture, it’s about relentless techno, escapism and big gay guys with naked asses.”
Meanwhile Andrew, an American currently studying in Humboldt University of Berlin, said,” I think it’s great that they’re going to show Making a Murderer in Berghain. It’s a really cool show, I’ve already watched all ten episodes in one sitting but I’ll definitely watch it again. If I can get in.”
“I think it’s a really good fit for Berghain,” continued the student. “They definitely share a similar shock factor. In the club you’ll be shocked by things like naked trannies and people fucking each other but in the TV show you’ll be shocked at how badly the police treat people who aren’t black. I guess they just don’t have enough black people to stitch up in those small hick towns in Wisconsin.”
According to unconfirmed rumours, Daniel Avery, no relation to the shows chief suspect Steven Avery, will play short musical intervals between episodes and follow the screening up with a six hour “murder themed” live performance.
