Former world number one DJ, Hardwell, has reportedly been offering fans rare Pokémon on the Pokémon Go app in exchange for votes in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll.
Hardwell, who embarrassingly finished second to EDM’s version of Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, in last year’s poll, is believed to have offered one fan the chance to catch a Articuno, the rarest of all Pokémon, if they convinced three other friends to vote for him.
“This is a great tactic by Hardwelll and it could very well see him return to the number one spot on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs this year,” claimed music expert Ade Roe earlier. “The target audience demographic for EDM DJs is practically identical to that of Pokémon Go so this clever little piece of marketing could bag the DJ hundreds of thousands of votes.”
“Since the the launch of Pokémon Go earlier this month, kids seem to be willing to go well outside their comfort zone to get their hands on the little critters,” continued Roe, “and if that means voting for Hardwell in the DJ Mag Top 100, then that’s exactly what they’ll do.”
According to reports, Hardwell has hired a team of ten thousand full time Pokémon catchers, who will travel the globe, capturing the rarest Pokémon which will then be offered back to his fans between now and October when the voting for the Top 100 DJs closes.
“Hardwell is going to have special VIP Poké-zones at all of his gigs for the rest of the voting season,” claimed a source from inside the Hardwell camp. “Only people who have voted for him on the DJ Mag poll will be able to enter and once they get inside they’ll have the chance to catch some of the rarest Pokémon on the planet.”
Experts are predicting that Hardwell’s shows this year will be “more entertaining than ever” now that fans will have an interactive game to play and take their mind of the DJ’s music.
