A study conducted by the resident DJ Association (RDJA) has confirmed that all ninety two million of their members have dropped Thriller, by Michael Jackson, at some point over the weekend or will do today.
Every Halloween, which is a huge date in the party calendar, members of the association are said to be “giddy” with excitement about being given the “perfect opportunity” to drop a classic floor-filling anthem, believing it will be the “pinnacle” of their set, and possibly a career altering moment.
“I can’t wait to see the dancefloor go potty over this tune,” confirmed DJ Stevie Steve, resident DJ at Vogue nightclub in Burnley, England, “More often than not, nobody gives a shit about warm-up or resident DJ’s, but Halloween always offers us a chance to out-do the headline act. There isn’t a person on earth who doesn’t like Thriller, so when I drop it to six people ten minutes after the club opens, I think it’ll set the tone for a perfect night.”
Wunderground spoke to DJ BassFuck, the man responsible for setting up the RDJA, to find out his thoughts on Thriller, “I’ve got a killer hard house version to play down at Wigan Pier,” he told us. “The association was set up to protect resident DJ’s from being treated like shit, last year loads of our members got egged by clubbers. Part of that negotiation included us being allowed to play any Halloween track we want over the Halloween period, as a way to grow our popularity, without being criticised by promoters or told to fuck off by headline acts.”
“This year you’ll see a prominent rise in fame for resident DJ’s,” continued BassFuck. Expect the next Darren Styles or Basshunter to be scouted, with a quick rise to the top, all because of a sick new remix of Thriller. Someone will be put firmly on the map come tomorrow morning.”
