Swedish EDM artist Alesso has vowed to bring emotion back into electronic music by “sobbing uncontrollably” during his DJ sets.
The Stockholm-based producer recently spoke out about the lack of emotion and sentiment in the modern day electronic music industry stating, “Sometimes that’s what is missing in the electronic landscape — the real emotions,” during a recent interview with Billboard.
Now the young Swede plans on bringing his own brand of “jacking emotional electro-house” to his stage show by incessantly crying for the duration of his performances.
“I’m a pretty emotional guy,” revealed Alesso during a chat with Wunderground earlier. “I wouldn’t say I’m over emotional but it really doesn’t take much to make me cry. A spider, the colour green, an episode of Skippy The Bush Kangaroo or even just catching a glimpse of my penis in the mirror, are all more than enough to turn my waterworks on, sometimes for hours on end.”
“I pride myself on being a very masculine man,” joked Alesso, we think. “But I’m not afraid to put my emotions out there for everyone to see. If I’m not happy about something I’ll let you know. Like this one time I was in McDonald’s and I asked for my burger without pickles and when it came out it had pickles on it. I was so angry, I threw myself onto the floor and started to scream and cry at the top of my lungs while bashing the back of my head off the floor.”
“Needless to say they made me another burger without those vinegary little pieces of filth. It’s good to be emotional.”
“I’ve cried during sets before so the idea isn’t exactly new to me, it’s just that I’ll be intentionally crying this time rather than losing my cool over a fly landing on my hand or accidentally loading the wrong MP3 file into my CDJ like I have in the past,” continued Alesso who seemed to be on the verge of tears remembering such painful memories.
“I’ll probably just watch a couple of sad TV advertisements or think about the Swedish House Mafia breaking up before I go out on stage,” continued Alesso, real name Alessandro Lindblad. “That should be enough to keep me crying for the duration of an hour long set.”
Pioneer have revealed that they will be working with Alesso on his new stage show by equipping him with “a set of fully waterproof CDJs 2000 Nexus, a splash resistant DJM 1000 mixer” and an unlimited supply of Pioneer branded handkerchiefs.
