Ancient Copies Of Mixmag Found In Egyptian Hieroglyphics

The world’s longest running and most popular dance music magazine, Mixmag, may be even older than we think after Egyptologist Vicki Bangle claimed to have discovered the very first issue of the magazine in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics.

Bangle, made the discovery while investigating a previously unseen chamber in a newly discovered section of the Pyramid of Menkaure on the Giza Plateaux just southwest of Cairo.

“It’s common knowledge that Menkaure was known as ‘The DJ Pharoah’ so we were sure there’d be a chamber dedicated to music somewhere in the pyramid,” explained Bangle during a chat with Wunderground. “Early yesterday morning we discovered it and it’s safe to say it’s far greater than we had ever imagined.”

“We found a huge stack of perfectly preserved, original White Label stone records, along with a whole host of other ancient DJing equipment,” claimed the Egyptologist. “But, what we’re most excited about is the ancient edition of Mixmag that we found in hieroglyphics on the chamber wall.”

“Up until now, no one knew where Mixmag originated from,” continued Bangel, who claims to be an expert in everything ancient, including DJ Sneak. “A lot of people thought it originated during the reign of the Roman Empire, where the modern day rave developed, while others thought it has always simply just been, like the sky or rivers, but now we can say, for sure, that Mixmag originates from the Fourth Dynasty of Egypt, which was around 2,600 BC.”

“The issue is really interesting too,” added Bangle. “There’s an article in there about the advantages that stone records have over banging rocks of other rocks. There’s another which asks the age old question ‘Who’s better at dancing – the Egyptians or the Jews?’ and a full set of listings for all the Pyramids in Egypt, which gives us an excellent insight into club culture at that time.”

So far Mixmag have yet to make an official statement on the discovery, however, rumours from within their London office suggest a print edition of the ancient issue will be available early next year.
