Axwell Causes Controversy With Misjudged ‘Blackface’ Costume Gaffe

Swedish electro-house Dj, Axwell, has caused a storm of controversy after he appeared at a Halloween party dressed as late rap star Tupac Shakur, for which he donned ‘blackface.’

The EDM star shocked partygoers when he arrived dressed as the late rapper wearing nothing but some jeans, a bandana, and shoe polish over his face, arms and torso.

“I was gobsmacked that he choose to dress as 2Pac for a Halloween costume,” claimed one partygoer, “even speaking as a closet racist, I was offended. He was throwing gang signs and making a ‘Westside-W’ with his hand by interlocking his fingers. It was sick.”

“I left the party when he started talking in an accent and rapping along to some of 2Pac’s hits,” claimed another guest. “He didn’t seem to know the words very well but when he did know a verse I noticed that he didn’t censor himself from saying the ‘n-word’ when it came up. Who doesn’t censor themselves in a party full of strangers? Obviously someone who hates black people.”

“I just can’t believe he’d do something so misjudged. It was a Halloween party for God’s sake, not a turn of the century minstrel show,” continued another guest. “I think the most offensive part was when he took to the decks to play an electro-house version of California Love. He might as well have just went to 2Pac’s graveside, took out his dick and pissed on it himself. It’d have been arguably less offensive than the electro-house imagining of California Love that I had the unenviable horror of hearing that night.”

Axwell has issued a statement apologising to his fans for his behaviour and assuring his legions of followers that he is not a racist. “I just want to apologise for the costume idea. In hindsight I shouldn’t have done it, but in my defense I didn’t think anyone would find out,” concluded Axwell. “Sure I regret being caught,” he continued, “but I’m not a racist. Some of my favourite recording artists are black. Like 1980s Michael Jackson, and Al Jolson.”
