Primary schools all over Belgium remained closed today as students were given the chance to celebrate Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike being named DJ Mag’s number 1 DJ.
Brothers Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, who pipped Dutch DJ Hardwell to the number 1 DJ spot on Friday night, are believed to be “extremely grateful” for the support they received from Belgian primary school students, who are believed to make up approximately 75% of the EDM duo’s fanbase.
“We’ve had a lot of very excited kids running around Belgium all weekend,” explained Belgian Minister of Education Hilde Crevits. “So instead of bringing them all in today, tired and cranky, we decided to give them all an extra day off to properly celebrate their heroes being named DJ Mag’s number 1 DJ.”
“Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike really are extremely popular in the playground,” continued Ms. Crevits. “In fact, the only things more popular than the brothers are Kinder Eggs, Peppa Pig and Santa Claus so we know it will really mean a lot to our students to have an extra day off to celebrate.”
According to sources close to Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, the brothers are planning a nationwide tour that will take in over 50% of Belgium’s primary schools as a way of saying “thank you” to their loyal supporters.
“The guys just want to give something back to their fans,” claimed the duo’s tour manager Ray Dupont. “So, starting in January of next yearm we’ll be going on a primary school tour of Belgium.”
“We’re also already thinking about retaining the number one spot in next year’s DJ Mag Top 100 DJs list so we’ll be giving the students free music and merchandise in exchange for votes. Everyone’s a winner.”
