In news that is set to rock the world’s of film and music hairy French EDM star David Guetta has been cast in the role of Chewbacca in the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII.
Beating off stiff competition from men in Chewbacca outfits, trained chimps and Robin William’s knuckles, Guetta was cast as the hairy Wookie over a phone call with JJ Abrams believed to have taken during a recent corporate DJ “set”.
Hollywood sources claim that director Abrams has long been a fan of Guetta’s, pictured here doing his Chewbacca impression, and felt the swarthy French producer would be perfect as Chewbacca.
“Not a lot of people know it because he undergoes a rigorous shaving regime but David actually has thick, silken, long hair covering 100% of his body,” claimed a source. “The public are only unaware of David’s condition thanks to clothes and a pre-show ritual which sees him shave his arms, neck and face, even the spot around his upper cheeks, forehead and eyeballs.”
The source claims that David’s Wookie-like appearance has been something of an open secret ever since the former DJ began producing tracks for pop acts like The Black Eyed Peas.
“Mr. Abrams felt that with his unnatural hairiness David would be able to bring an authenticity and realness to the part of the giant space dog who flies spaceships in the past which is somehow also the future,” continued the source. “It’d also be cheaper than hiring a guy in a sweaty Chewbacca suit or going CGI.”
In a statement released to Hollywood Foreign Press Mr. Abrams said he was delighted to offer the role to one of his EDM idols claiming “pretending to fly a fake studio built Millennium Falcon is not too dissimilar to what David does on stage every night and with his ability to make high pitched dog-like moans using a button on some production equipment I feel David is ideal for the part of Chewbacca.”
“I’m delighted to land my first film role,” gushed Mr. Guetta in a pre-prepared statement. “I’ve always wanted to indulge in the childhood dream of going on an exciting adventure in a land of make believe which is why I became an EDM DJ, but now I’m excited to take make it a reality by going to an unreal fantasy world like Hollywood.”
David claims that shooting will not disturb his busy touring schedule as he will be juggling both through hard work, energy and pre-recording all [his] sets in advance”.
