English Techno aficionado Carl Cox has announced that he will arrive at this year’s We Are FSTVL via parachute from Space.
Cox, who headlines the festival’s main stage on Saturday, is a big fan of space and a keen astronomer, with rumours circulating in the space community that he has discovered upwards of ten supernovas, under various aliases, with his naked eyes.
“I love Space,” claimed the DJ during a recent chat with Wunderground. “People are always asking me about my residency in Space Ibiza and saying how much I must love the club to have stayed for so long but the fact of the matter is it’s all about the name. If it wasn’t called Space I could easily be playing at one of the other big clubs.”
“I always try to push the boundaries when it comes to festivals and We Are FSTVL are one of the most forward thinking and positive crews I’ve ever worked with so I decided I’d try something really special this year,” continued Cox. “I’ve teamed up with Red Bull who are going to fly me into the stratosphere and I’m going to parachute into the main stage for my set.”
“It will also mean I don’t have to spend any time hanging around the festival green room and running the risk of bumping into Claude VonStroke,” explained Cox with a beaming smile. “He’s a massive Star Trek fan, whereas I’m into Star Wars, if he tries to tell me that Klingons are superior to Wookies one more time I’ll be likely to kill him. I could kill him, probably with one hand tied behind my back.”
Cox also revealed that he will be wearing a mic during his six minute descent to Earth which will be broadcast live over the main stage’s sound system. The DJ claims this will help build excitement in the crowd and will mostly involve him saying “oh yes oh yes” and making “laser and rocket” sound effects.
