Outspoken EDM star Deadmau5 has claimed this week that he is set to quit Twitter – again – in order to spend time preparing for his highly anticipated and inevitable return to Twitter.
This latest move by the mouse-head wearing self-confessed tech-head comes mere days after he justifiably lambasted pop heiress Paris Hilton on a Tumblr post in which he compared her to a “go-kart” which can only have been a veiled attack on her skill level as a DJ and her resemblance to a machine controlled by a variety of men.
“There’s more to life than Twitter,” claimed Mau5. “Like staging a public abandonment of Twitter only to return after an absence of mere days. Sort of like Christ dying on the cross and then making his comeback three days later….not to say that I’m some kind of a Christ-figure but both he and I communicate to multitudes, and are Jewish.”
“Also, if I know my scripture, Jesus was also a massive Nyan Cat fan,” added the musician.
It is expected that Deadmau5 is “totally serious this time” about taking an extended break from all forms of social media for upwards of “two weeks, maybe even three if [he] gets bored” – which is the previous record for one of the star’s self imposed hiatuses.
“Deadmau5 just needs some time away from Twitter so he can recharge, readjust and focus on what’s really important to him – causing amusing DJ spats on Twitter,” claimed a spokesperson for Deadmau5. “Sven Vath takes time away from performing music each year to keep his career fresh and Deadmau5 is just doing the same thing with his most valuable asset – his online persona.”
“I don’t know what we can expect with the Twitter comeback, with it being Mau5 you just don’t know what’s going to happen, who knows if he’ll even ever come back?” added the spokesperson. “Although he definitely will be back.”
Some fans have speculated that the Twitter comeback, when it definitely occurs, will involve a spectacular meltdown by Mau5 attacking the concept of music itself and how any live or recorded music is “basically just some talented person using their fingers to make beautiful sounds come out of various items made for that precise purpose” and that getting paid for it is obscene.
