Games developer, FreeStyleGames, have recruited the outspoken DJ Sneak for a completely re-imagined version of the popular videogame series, DJ Hero.
Head developer, Curtis Mitchell, explained the latest acquisition for the increasingly popular series, “We felt that with the advent of massive world games like GTA 5 that we needed to design a more immersive DJing experience for our gamers.”
“So with that idea in mind we’ve added some really exciting features and personalities to the game that will mirror as closely as possible a real world DJing experience.”
Some of the new features that have been added include a ‘DJ Rant’ mode where players will have to engage in a war of words with some of dance music’s most outspoken figures like Deadmau5, Maceo Plex and DJ Sneak.
“We were particularly delighted when Sneak agreed to be part of the project, ‘claimed Mitchell. “He’ll feature as the main ‘boss’ character in the game and will sporadically call out the player for real or perceived slights as they advance through career mode. So for example he might say that you’re nothing but a laptop DJ and so the challenge will then be for you to mix using vinyl to appease Sneak’s wrath.”
Mitchell explained some of the other features that have been added to career mode that strive to complete the realistic DJ experience, “You’ll have to do things like contend with unprofessional promoters, poorly run festivals, fawningly enthusiastic groupies and, in the explicit over 18 version of the game, you can develop your substance abuse problem during the hectic ‘Ibiza season’ section of the career mode.”
“One of the most important tools that a modern DJ has at his or her disposal is social media. So there’ll be an in-game version of Twitter and Facebook that will be populated by AI subscribers who will react either positively or negatively to your tweets,” explained Mitchell. “So you can become a Twitter sensation with little DJing talent to complete the game if you aren’t as skilled at the actual DJing. Just like real life.”
“So whether you feel like moaning about the food in a regional city, or complaining about a delayed flight, or you want to attack another DJ for playing an inappropriately banging warm-up set, now you can, just like a real DJ.”
The game, which has been described varyingly as “the most realistic experience of DJing as imagined by someone who has never DJed” and “the final nail in the coffin of dance music”, is available in shops this Christmas.

Amazing! I must have this game! As an aspiring DJ I want to train myself in the art of spamming twitter early on so as to then be able to rise to fame after having produced just one track!
