Do Not Sleep resident Darius Syrossian has been tipped to be named as London’s next Night Mayor.
According to the current Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, Syrossian’s experience in the clubbing industry and willingness to “not sleep” make him a perfect fit for the job.
“There’s no point in beating around the bush here, London’s nightlife is in dire straits and we need fresh blood to come in and sort it out,” admitted Khan during an exclusive interview with Wunderground. “The political approach has so far failed to work so we’re trying to think outside the box here. What we need is someone who likes to stay awake and has vast experience in the clubbing industry.”
“There was a lot of interest in the role. I’ve had Paul Oakenfold on the phone to me, practically begging for the job, two or three times a day since I took up office but, to be honest, we’re looking for someone who’s relevant in today’s music industry,” revealed Khan, who lied about visiting fabric when he was younger earlier this week. “We think that in Mr Syrossian we’ve found the perfect candidate,”
Although no official approach has been made to Syrossian yet, the DJ is said to be “chuffed” to be considered for the role and it is believed he will take up the position after Don Not Sleep’s closing party at Sundays At Space on 25 September.
