Ferry Corsten Talking About Career As If It’s Still A Thing

Ferry Corsten Rotterdam Tiesto Trance DJ Mag Top 100 Wunderground

Former Dutch trance DJ Ferry Corsten has reportedly been heard talking about his career as if it were still a thing.

Witnesses in Rotterdam, where Corsten is now believed to be driving a taxi, claimed to have heard the former DJ talking about upcoming gigs, a trance resurgence and a possible return to the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll in the next three years.

“I was sitting in a cafe enjoying some cappuccinos with my girlfriend when she said to me ‘isn’t that Ferry Corsten?’ and pointed to a guy who just walked in the door,” explained Rob Jonker earlier. “I wasn’t really sure, because I haven’t seen or heard of him in so many years, but it looked like the guy I imagine he would have turned into.”

“He sat at a table directly opposite us and ordered a couple of things from the early bird menu, money must be a little tight for him now that the gigs have dried up,” continued Jonker, who claims he was into trance in the late 90s but has since grown out of it. “Then he picked up his phone and started talking to somebody about all sorts of gigs, money and some list of irrelevant DJs. It was really weird, my girlfriend and I just looked at each other and were like ‘what the fuck? Is this guy still a DJ?’, I was pretty sure his career ended years ago.”

“It’s just you’d expect to have seen him playing a gig or heard one of his songs in the last ten years, especially seen as we’re from the same town, but I literally haven’t heard or seen anything from this guy since he founded the label Flashover Records in 2005. I just presumed that it had failed, because trance became so irrelevant, and he’d lost all of his money, gave up the dream and got a nine to five.”

“Even after hearing him talk I’m still not convinced his career is still a thing,” claimed Mr Jonkers. “He was talking on an iPhone 3, if I was a big DJ I’d definitely be using something newer. I have a feeling that there may have been nobody on the other end of the phone during that conversation. Still though, there’s no shame in that, it’s definitely better than what Tiësto’s doing these days.”

So far Corsten has yet to comment on the matter but, according to sources close to the Rotterdam native, he is still very much a DJ, exclusively in his own imagination.
