Jim Bosworth, a self-proclaimed garage nut, has recently given up on house based living and moved into his garage.
Bosworth, from Camberwell, South London, had this to say about it, “I’m just garage crazy, the classic US style or the newer UK gear. I couldn’t be into house anymore, or even in a house. I’ll play friends an old Romanthony dub or something new by Huxley and they’ll say it’s a great house track, but it’s not house, it’s bloody garage!”
Bosworth works at a garage on Benhill Road as a parking attendant while his wife, Katie, works for Southwark Housing Commission. Katie, who as well as living in a house and working in housing is also a massive house fan.
“I mean he rags on me when I play my old Steve “Silk” Hurley or Marshall Jefferson tunes. But what can I say? I love house, I live for the old Chicago stuff, and acid house, don’t get me started about acid house,” she gushed before screaming ‘Acieeeed’ while flailing her outstretched arms and adding “It’s a musical phenomenon, only for the headstrong,” before indulging in some eyes closed fist pumping.
“I tried to tell Jim that garage is just New York house,” she explained, “but he screamed at me about Larry Levan, Blaze, and 2 Step.”
Jim sees it differently, “I love Katie, but she’ too involved in housing and when she’s not she’s in the house, and she’s too into house. I tried to patch up with her last weekend by asking her to go see Tony Humphries with me, but unfortunately K-Alexi Shelby was playing an acid set on the same night….I went to see Tony alone.”
“Jim’s too thick headed and he can’t see it from my side at all,” Katie told us this morning before leaving for work. “He’s obsessed. I like NY stuff, like Angel Moraes or newer UK stuff like Bicep, but to me that’s house, even if it has NY influences. Jim can be into garage as long as he wants, but he needs to open his mind.”
“I said to him the other night, that when you’re in my hut, you know what’s up, let your mind be free, free like your body,” she continued. “He told me I was moving too fast. I just can’t talk to him anymore.” Jim’s last word on the subject was, “We need to take some time out. I love the way she makes me feel, but I ask myself is this real.”
Katie rolled her eyes when we told her what Jim said and added, “Sometimes I just want to tell him, you used to hold me, but now I feel like like I’m in a land of confusion. Furthermore, I’m an aquarius and no man in the world can let go of this aquarius.”
We hope that they can patch it up, walk hand in hand, and make it to the promised land.
