According to a survey on baby names, Jack and Daniel were the two most common names given by alcoholic parents in 2015.
The survey, set in Ireland, looked at the naming patterns of two thousand sets of alcoholic parents, also known as normal Irish parents, and discovered that a whopping forty percent of them had named their child either Jack or Daniel.
“I love the names Jack and Daniel,” claimed mother of three Becky from Dublin. “That’s what I called my first two sons. The third kid turned out to be a bird, so I called her Danielle. I’m hoping to have another one next year, you know to keep the children’s allowance coming in a bit longer, if it’s a girl I’ll definitely call her Jaqueline.”
Becky’s husband, Anto, explained how the couple had decided on their children’s names, “Naturally I was in the pub when I got the call to say Becky had been brought to hospital to do the birthing. I can’t really remember the last one but I’m pretty sure I left as soon as I’d had a couple more drinks for the first two.”
“I remember thinking ‘can we call the baby Jameson?’ but that’s a second name so you can’t really be doin’ that,” continued Anto, who was enjoying a can of cider while giving the interview. “Everyone knows if there’s no Jameson you have Jack Daniels so it was a pretty easy decision in the end.”
“The two lads’ middle names are Benson and Hedges, we called them that after the smokes, ye know?” explained the proud father. “I love smoking, it’s brilliant so it is, I’m hoping that some day the kids will grow up to drink and smoke just like their old man, it’ll be handy like, ‘cause I’ll always have someone to bring me to the pub.”
According to the survey other names that were popular include Chardonnay, Cava, Jim Beam, Gordon and Rosé.
