Tech savvy DJ James Zabiela has reportedly slammed the Ministry of Sound, just hours before he is due to appear in the iconic club, claiming they don’t have enough decks in their DJ box.
Zabiela, best known for his highly technical DJ sets and numerous appearances as Goldilocks in Christmas pantos, is scheduled to play Wunderground’s take over this Saturday and has suggested there’s “no way on Earth” he can DJ using Ministry’s ten deck setup.
“I really don’t know how they expect me to be able to go in and play my set with so few decks, who do they think I am, David Guetta?” scoffed Zabiela earlier. “It’s not like there’s no room, it’s a huge DJ box, they could easily squeeze another five or six CDJs in there. If they did that, I might be able to make it work but I usually like to have at least twenty decks for my sets.”
“I like to imagine that I’m on the bridge of an intergalactic spaceship when I’m DJing,” continued Zabiela, a known Sci-Fi fan. “There’s just not enough tech in there for it to look like a spaceship, there’s only ten decks, it looks like the bridge of a hovercraft at best, Philip K. Dick would be rolling in his grave if he seen me taking the helm as it is.”
“They’re going to need to step up their tech game if they want to get me in there,” claimed Zabiela. “The only way I’ll play with their current setup is if they get me a captain’s chair and let me play the new Star Wars set I’ve been working on, which is actually really cool because it’s over fifty percent Jedi mind tricks. They’ll also need to turn the soundsystem down a little, it’s so loud in there that I can’t even hear myself think, or make warpspeed engine and proton torpedo sound effects in my head. Otherwise they’re going to have to find a another DJ.”
Ministry of Sound have not yet stated whether or not they will bend to Zabiela’s demands, although, it is looking likely after a club employee was spotted buying five CDJs during Pioneer’s Black Friday Sale.
