English comedian and Frank Bruno lookalike Lenny Henry has been left embarrassed after mistaking his reflection for ultra camp TV chef Ainsley Harriott.
According to witnesses, Henry was walking on a London street when he spotted his reflection in a bus stop shelter, he is then believed to have engaged in twenty minute conversation with himself.
Steve Parsons, a twenty twenty five year old carpenter gave Wunderground his account of what happened, “It was really funny, I was just standing at the bus stop with a gang of my mates when one of the lads goes ‘isn’t that Idris Elba?’ but it wasn’t him at all, it was actually Lenny Henry.”
“He was strutting along the street like the king of London when he spotted his reflection in the shelter,” explained Parsons. “At first I thought he was just stopping to admire himself but then he shouted ‘Ainsley it’s you’ and high fived the glass.”
“Then he started having a full blown conversation with himself,” continued the witness. “I’m surprised he didn’t realise but, to be honest, the reflection couldn’t get a word in edge ways, I’d imagine that’s what it’s like when Lenny’s talking to anybody, reflection or not.”
“It went on for about twenty minutes, he arranged to meet himself for a coffee next week and everything. He only noticed it was his reflection when he said goodbye, went in for a hug and banged his face off the glass.”
After the embarrassing incident, Henry is believed to have taken shelter in the nearest Premier Inn, where he consoled enjoyed acceptable comfort at a reasonable price for the next twenty four hours.
