It has been reported today that an estimated “loads of people” on Facebook are beginning to get “stupidly excited” for the upcoming Ibiza summer season to such an extent that they are broadcasting their excitement to everyone they possibly can.
Witnesses to the unbridled excitement being displayed by people planning to go to Ibiza this summer, either as a holiday or as workers, claim that since the start of April they have been subjected to disgusting examples of palpable excitement about Ibiza whenever they flip open their laptops.
“It’s always the same sort of thing,” confided Jason, one clubber who won’t be going to Ibiza this summer because of work but who is friends with several people who are going for the summer. “They’ll say something like ‘oh yes, oh yes, this time next month I’ll be in Playa D’en Bossa, get in’ or go for the more subtle boast of ‘Ibiza – 27 days to go’ in a rather foreboding count down format.”
Jason claimed that some of the other things that people have been doing to boast on Facebook about going to Ibiza include “posting links to tracks with a heading suggesting said track is going to be a monster in Ibiza, spelling Ibiza in various ways ranging from Ibiza to BEEFA (all caps) and, for the posher twats, Eivissa”.
“It’s become inescapable,” continued a morose Jason. “I had posted the lineup to Hideout where I’ll be going this summer and some of my Ibiza going friends just tore it apart by saying things like ‘all those DJs will be playing Ibiza this summer’ before then going on a ramble about how amazing the island is and how they can’t wait to get back there and that they’ve been going since 2003 and haven’t missed a summer. It basically goes on like that.”
Jason’s friend Patrick, who was keen to tell us that he works in Ibiza every year and hasn’t missed a season since 2010 but that was only because he had the mumps, said that sometimes it’s just hard to hide your excitement for Ibiza.
“I’ve been talking about Ibiza pretty much consistently since the end of March,” recounted Jason from what he described as a villa in Playa d’en Bossa. “I was afraid status updates weren’t enough to let people know I was going to Ibiza so I changed my profile pic to a photo of me in Ibiza from last year. When that failed to get the traction I wanted I pushed the boat out and changed my cover photo to a pic of Bora Bora. That got people’s attention.”
“I just want people to know how much of an Ibiza legend I am,” he concluded. “And that’s why I’ll be consistently updating people on my doings around the island for the summer. I love nothing more than going to DC10 on a Monday morning and updating my status to tell all the suckers in work back home how much of an amazing buzz I’m having while they’re at work.”
