Marco Carola To Have Record Breaking Twenty Four Hour Power Nap

Italian techno stalwart Marco Carola has announced ambitious plans to take a record breaking twenty four hour power nap before his next marathon DJ set.

Carola, who recently played a twenty four hour set at Sunwaves Festival, has earmarked 2015 as “the year [he] goes down in the record books” and sees marathon sets and marathon power naps as two genuine ways to leave his mark on the world record scene.

“My twenty four hour set at Sunwaves was just a warm up for an official record attempt I”ll be making in Rome at the end of June,” explained Carola during an early morning chat with Wunderground. “Basically I just wanted to find out if the amount of Red Bull I’d need to drink and drugs I’d need to take to sustain a set that long would make my heart explode. Thankfully they didn’t and I’m still here and ready to have a shot at the record.”

“Next time I’ll be playing for twenty five hours because I’m eager for this to be an actual world record and not just the same length as the set I played a couple of weeks,” he claimed, “and to warm myself up and prepare for the set I’ll be putting my head down for a record breaking twenty four hour power nap. That’ll be two world records inside three days, the only other DJ to that is Steve Aoki so it’s never actually been done by a DJ before.”

“The average power nap is normally somewhere in between twenty and forty minutes,” continued Carola who also plans on breaking the record for decks used during a mix by using fifteen turntables. “So to take it up to twenty four hours is really quite a mean feat. We’re bordering on the line of a comatose state here so I’ll need to be very careful that I don’t come out of this record attempt with any lasting neurological damage.”

“I’ll be preparing for the power nap by drinking warm milk, watching cricket and listening to an audiobook version of The Bible, read by Adam Beyer, that should be enough to send anyone into a twenty four hour slumber,” he added. “If that fails I’ll listen to hours fourteen to twenty three of my last twenty four hour mix, there’s no way I’ll be able to stay awake after that.”

Sleep experts are predicting that Carola, not to be confused with popular range of budget cars made by Japanese car manufacturer Toyota, could possibly stay awake for anything up to seventy two hours without the slightest hint of fatigue after his marathon power nap.

“Power napping is an incredibly powerful form of sleep,” explained Dr. Ivor Winky-Knight of the World Sleeping Authority. “In normal circumstances thirty minutes can be as effective as four or five normal hours sleep so if Mr. Corolla can go into power nap mode for twenty fours hours there’s no reason why he won’t be able to stay awake for three or even four days.”

According to fellow DJ Ricardo Villalobos, having a twenty four hour power nap is “no big deal” as he claims to do it “about once a week”.
