Tech-House Producer Playing Latest Track To Lull Newborn Baby To Sleep
A tech-house producer has today discovered a novel use for his latest, mind-numbingly bland production attempts – to put crying babies to sleep at night.
“I had been having trouble getting my 6 month old, Ally, to sleep,” explained tech-house DJ and producer Simon Roberts. “She was crying in the next room so I brought her crib into my studio/laundry room/garage while I was working on some tracks.”
“Once I posted on Facebook that I was doing some producing I got down to some serious tweaking on a fifteen minute loop that I had made last month,” continued Simon. “It’s a really kicking tech-house monster in that it goes nowhere for ages before a few synthy flourishes and man-trance vocals make it slightly recognisable.”
“Within about five seconds of the track coming on, Ally’s crying all but stopped,” he added. “I peeked into her crib and she was sound asleep, it wasn’t even nap time.”
Simon claims that the child then proceeded to sleep for several hours while he worked on the tech-house, only waking up once when he accidentally switched the music off.
“It was like, even with a childlike wonder at the world, she still was bored to comatose from the tech-house,” explained Simon. “I’d tried everything to put her to sleep, humming nonsense and rocking back and forth but nothing worked as well as a few seconds of tech-house.”
Simon now plans to release the track exclusively for the baby sleep market, fitted into cots and cribs complete with a mobile that plays a choice of tech-house tracks.
