Nu-Rave Set To Return In 2017 As Old-Nu-Rave

Flash in the pan music genre nu-rave, which sounded like somebody put a house, techno, grime, indie, folk, power ballad and metal record into a blender, forming the most shit-tasting musical milkshake in the history of noise pollution, is said to be making an enormous comeback in 2017, rebranding itself as Old-Nu-rave.

The urban-indie-grime-poptastic music style, which influenced a generation of Skins obsessed, slogan t-shirt wearing posh kids, hanging out at Old Blue Last and 333 in Shoreditch over ten years ago, by claiming it had “saved the rave”, is believed to be on the cusp of bursting onto screens and radios around the world, ready to “irritate the fuck” out of an entirely new breed of youths.

“We’re back bitches,” said Hadouken! front man, James Smith. “I can’t wait to save the rave, again, for a second time. Yet again, without us, it’s dying out, man. House music needs a saviour and we’re here to put it back on the map, just like we did in 2007 – except with our own unique urban rap spin and guitar riffs, which nobody has ever done before.”

“Carl Cox, Sasha, Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Hot Since 82, you guys can thank us for keeping you in jobs. Without us, the music scene would be nothing more than kids moshing to indie bands. We are indie, but we are also a shit load of other things too. Rave culture owes Hadouken! a big fucking ‘thank you’.”

Wunderground caught up with Dan Coop, synth player for Does It Offend You, Yeah? with regards to what he thinks about Nu-rave making a comeback, “Did it ever go away?” he asked us. “I don’t think it did. I think it just went underground for a while. Like, so far underground that it was almost buried in a treasure chest at the bottom of the sea that nobody knew was there except maybe one bloke who never got over it, who still has intense cry-wanks over the Late Of The Pier, or whatever.

“I can’t wait to offend people again, it’s what this scene was all about. We just don’t give a fuck, as long as TopShop and Urban Outfitters start forcing those fluorescent garms on easily influenced teenagers, we will be laughing all the way to a headline show at 1234 festival in Shoreditch. That’s still a thing, isn’t it?”
