People Who Were There For Acid House Explosion Still Going On About It

Clubbers who were around during the acid house craze in the summer of love ’88 are still going on about it, it has emerged.

Likely to make observations about how the real spirit of rave has died and become commercialised, the old schoolers have been constantly talking about how they were there in ’88 since it happened.

“They’ll also be keen to accurately point out how crap the drugs are now compared to back then, however this won’t prevent them from greedily accepting anything you offer them,” explained a source. “At parties they’ll also be dismissive of any music made after they turned 30.”

“Those were the halycon days, rave culture was just kicking off, techno and house were starting to come over from America and the Hacienda and other big clubs were in their prime,” gushed old school “hero” Graham Lindsay. “It was magic.”

Graham considers it some kind of cultural achievement that he happened to be there when there was the first explosion in dance music and uses it as a yardstick against which to judge how shit they perceive modern dance music.

“Everybody played vinyl then of course, and took pills that were 150% proof, the coke back then was amazing and the women were actually better looking too,” he added. “In fact every aspect of the summer of love in 88 was beyond amazing, think of the best orgasm you’ve ever had then multiply it by winning the lotto while lying on a sunkissed beach drinking margueritas in the sky and you’re still not close.”

“I shook Danny Ramplings hand in the jacks in Shoom, there was still little flecks of piss on it, it was the pinnacle of my life, you wouldn’t get that nowadays with today’s DJs.”

In order to facilitate constantly talking about summer 88 and referring to himself as a proper old school club requires him to keep his throat lubricated with cider and his nostrils stuffed with cocaine.

“He’s actually been talking for the last two decades about how he was there when Carl Cox first played with three decks,” explained Graham’s friend Stu. “I don’t know how he keeps going, probably high grade speed.”

Graham concluded his boastful rants by saying that he “feels sorry for the kids getting into clubbing now, all the spirit has gone out of it, Ibiza is shit now as well.”
