Babyshambles front man and drugs aficionado, Pete Doherty, was last night hospitalised after a serious drugs underdose.
It is believed Doherty rang an ambulance, in the hope of being with administered morphine, from London’s Hyde Park after a failed four hour search for heroin in the English capital. Bystandaers have reported that in the hours leading up to the underdose the former Libertines singer could be seen frantically texting, making calls and asking “anyone who looked even the slightest bit dodgy” if they could score him some gear.
Matt Stevens, Doherty’s regular dealer, spoke to Wunderground about the incident, “I really hope Pete pulls through this, I’ve formed a really good dealer – customer relationship with him over the last few years.”
“When I first met him I thought he was just another flash northerner living in London who liked to smoke a bit of gear on the weekends and I thought he was a bit of a gimp to be honest with you,” explained Mr. Stevens, “But when I found out he was loaded and had a serious drugs habit we just clicked.”
“I tried to warn him yesterday that he wasn’t buying enough gear but he just laughed and mumbled something about five hundreds pounds worth being enough for any man,” explained the dealer. “I’m really hoping he makes a full recovery, it would be so horrible for the reputation of my smack if he didn’t.”
“It’s times like this when I wonder if I’m making a horrible mistake and wasting my life by exploiting poor tortured souls like Pete and the rest of the walking dead look-a-likes I call my customers,” he confessed. “Then I take a look at my brand new BMW M3, my solid gold chains and more Burberry then you can shake a stick at and I remember just how good a job it is.”
Doctors have confirmed that Doherty is in a ‘stable and sober’ condition and are confident that he will make a full recovery and be “back on the smack” in no time.
