Saying “your mother” in your response to anything was yesterday inducted into the comedy hall of fame after being voted the Greatest Joke of All Time at the annual Comedy Gala in San Francisco.
The award, which was ironically presented by David Guetta, the only man alive to have been born without a sense of humour, recognises the contribution made by “your mother” to modern day comedy.
“Your mother” was voted the Greatest Joke of All Time by a panel of comedians, beating some other very distinguished jokes, such as Steve Aoki’s music, David Moyes’ Manchester United career and “the one about Kanye West sucking a fish’s dick”, to the title.
“The joke has had a long and illustrious career,” claimed comedian Frankie Boyle, accepting the award on behalf of “your mother”. “It was first used in 44 BC when Brutus famously whispered the words ‘Youreo Mumulus’ into Caesar’s ear before stabbing him in the back on the Senate steps.”
“It’s gone from strength to strength ever since,” claimed Boyle, “and has been at the center of a number of high profile incidents, including what Marco Materazzi said to Zinedine Zidane in the 2006 World Cup final, and also been at the heart of many wonderful laughs had by people all over the world.”
“It has also spawned a countless number of other similar jokes like the “Yo Momma so fat” range and can be enjoyed by men, women and children alike,” continued the comedian. “Making it the most influential, and deservedly the greatest, joke of all time.”
Wundergrond would like to take this opportunity to thank all of your mothers for being the butt of so many fantastic jokes over the years. You truly are an inspiration to all of us.
