An historian of electronic music, Paul Anderson, who has been researching the history of the dance music industry has made the startling and worrying discovery that rhythm is not a dancer, as had previously been believed.
It’s a declaration that is sure to rock the dance music world which has, since the release of Snap’s 1992 hit Rhythm Is A Dancer, held tightly to the belief that rhythm is and was a dancer, but that no longer appears to be the case according to Paul Anderson, who somberly informed gathered press today that “it is with great sadness that I tell people – rhythm is not a dancer”.
Responding to questions about the veracity and seriousness of his claims Paul insisted that he had conducted his research using all modern scientific methods and that his conclusion would be seen to be irrefutable, insisting, “Of course I’m serious…..I’m serious as cancer when I say that rhythm is NOT a dancer.”
“My findings suggest that everything else Snap said still holds true and that people are still encouraged to lift their hands and voices, to free their mind and join us, they can feel it in the air because wooooahh, it’s a passion,” added Paul. “While it’s still all these things it’s unfortunately not a dancer, you are a dancer, the rhythm is just what’s making you dance.”
Paul concluded his report by saying he plans to investigate other properties attributed to rhythm throughout the course of music, particularly Gloria Estefan’s repeated threats that the “rhythm is going to get you”, something Paul claims is highly doubtful but worth investigating.
