Steve Aoki On Suicide Watch After Accidentally Throwing His Cat And Best Friend ‘Steve Junior’ Into Crowd

American EDM superstar, Steve Aoki, is rumoured to have been placed on “suicide watch” after accidentally throwing his cat into the crowd during a recent show.

Aoki is said to be in a severely distressed state after the cat, Steve Jnr. failed to return to the DJ’s tour bus after the gig. Sources close to Aoki have revealed that the Miami born producer sat up “crying like a baby while maniacally stroking a cake” for three days after the cat went missing. The incident is believed to have happened after The DJ mistook the cat for a large novelty cake which was to be thrown at the crowd in order to distract them from mind numbingly shit music that he plays.

Wunderground caught up with a member of Aoki’s crew earlier today, “When Steve performs he is so in the zone, and on crack, that he just doesn’t notice little things like the subtle differences between a cat and a cake,” explained the unnamed source. “It was a total accident. Everything happened so quickly one minute Steve Jnr. was happily sitting on the CDJs and the next he was disappearing into a sea of people.”

“Poor Steve is heartbroken, he rescued Steve Jnr. from a pound when he was only a kitten and has raised him like his own son, even letting him suckle on his nipples in place of his mother for the first couple of years,” claimed the source. “That cat was his pet, his best friend, his son and his lover all rolled into one cake sized package.”

Aoki recently shared the above picture on his Facebook profile in an attempt to locate his feline friend but has since come in for criticism from animal rights activist who claim the picture is glamorising cruelty against animals. However our source has confirmed that this was not the message Aoki was trying to send to his fans.

“Steve is a nature lover and he would never promote cruelty towards animals in any form,” claimed the anonymous source. “You’d have to be a total idiot, a complete prick and an absolute dick head to be in Steve’s position and post a picture like that to so many impressionable young fans. Only a complete moron would post something like that as a joke or for fun but in this situation it was simply the most recent picture of the cat and Steve felt posting it was his best chance of a reunion with his beloved pet.”
