The world’s biggest selling grime artist, Stormzy, has revealed that he is to add the word “cunt” to the title of his track Shut Up, making it Shut Up Cunt, for an upcoming Australian performance.
Stormzy will debut the new title at Beyond the Valley Festival, which takes place in Lardner Park, Victoria, between 28 December and 1 January.
“I always try to tweak my performances in a way that helps me make a connection with the locals,” the recording artist told Wunderground earlier. “For example, If I’m playing a gig in Manchester I’ll say something about United, if I’m playing a gig in Ireland I’ll drink a pint of Guinness or if I’m in America I’ll walk out onto the stage with a cheeseburger or a gun, it really helps to get the crowd going.”
“The problem with going to Australia is that I don’t really know a whole lot about the place, other than it’s on the other side of the world and they’ve got kangaroos,” he continued. “So I asked around and apparently they all love saying the word ‘cunt’, it’s, like, the number one pastime over there or something.”
“So, because I love Australia so much and Beyond the Valley is such a cool festival, I decided I’d go one better for this gig and actually change the name of Shut Up to Shut Up Cunt,” revealed Stormzy, real name Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Junior, not to be confused Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Senior, also known as Windzy.
“I’ve been practicing the new lyrics and it’s definitely a lot of fun getting to say cunt so many times in such a short space of time. It’s actually the most cunts used in three minutes since Hillary Clinton found out Donald Trump won the election.”
