An employee of American retail powerhouse, Wallmart, has been left red in the face after accidentally stocking Afrojack’s album, Forget The World, in their cheese fridge since its release in May of this year.
The Dutch EDM producer is said to have discovered the retail outlet’s blunder after paying a visit to one of their Las Vegas branches to investigate why recorded sales from Wallmart stores had been so low.
Afrojack explained his findings to Wunderground, “I knew there was something not right with Wallmart. My Album has been out since May and they’ve only sold two or three units. Sure, it’s a shit album but this is America people will buy anything over here.”
“To be honest, I was expecting to find my albums buried under a pile of junk in the storeroom or accidentally put in the DVD section. I looked everywhere but they were nowhere to be seen,” he continued. “It was only after I gave up hope of finding them and went to get a block of cheese for the ride home that I discovered them, sandwiched between the Edam and the Gouda, in the Dutch cheese refrigerator.”
Brian Oliveira, head of merchandising for Wallmart, defended the store’s mistake, “It really was a very easy mistake to make. At the start of May we ran a special on extra smelly Dutch cheese, I guess this coincided with the release of this schmuck’s album and the two got mixed up.”
“Honestly you could put a copy of that album and a block of shit smelling Ducth cheese in front of me right now and I still don’t think I’d be able to tell the difference,” added Mr. Oliveira.
Wallmart have issued a full apology to Afrojack, stating that all of his albums have been returned to their music sections where they will be displayed in their most prevalent locations.
According to a source from within Wallmart album sales have dropped since the mistake was rectified while Dutch cheese sales are up a massive fifty percent.
