Lithuanian DJ and producer Mario Bassinov has slammed his fellow persona, Ten Walls, and labeled him an idiot after his homophobic rant on Facebook earlier this week.
Basanov, best known for being Ten Walls, claimed that only a complete fool would use a public forum to voice such outdated opinions and insisted that his own views are completely different to those of his alias.
“Looking at the comments which were made on Facebook last Sunday it is clear that Ten Walls is an idiot,” explained Basanov in an exclusive interview with Wunderground earlier, “and even though he is me, those opinions are in no way a reflection of how I, Ten Walls, I mean Mario Basanov, think. Only a great moron would say something as stupid as that.”
“There is no excusing what Ten Walls has done,” claimed the DJ in an attempt to make the best of a bad situation. “That is why I am publicly distancing myself from him and revealing that I will no longer be working, or associating the Mario Basanov brand, with Ten Walls. The last thing I want is for people to think that I’m some kind of stone age neanderthal or mindless fascist.”
“There are also a lot of rumours circulating that I am homophobic so I just want to go on record now and say that there is absolutely no way that I am a homophobe,” continued Basanov, who claims to have once played a Queen song by accident in one of his DJ sets. “Some of my closest friends have friends who are gay and I happily held my fathers hand and kissed him on the lips up until the age of five so it is fair to say that I am a very liberal and progressive thinker when it comes to sexuality.”
According to sources close to Basanov, the DJ is set to undergo “an intensive tolerance building training schedule”, which will see him learn to accept homosexuality by “watching Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals, playing with kittens and repeatedly listening to Geri Halliwell’s cover of It’s Raining Men.
