English electronic music legends, The Chemical Brothers, are to be rewarded for their contribution to modern society with an honorary place on the Periodic Table.
The Chemical Brothers, consisting of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, have been a mainstay on Britain’s clubbing and festival circuits since the late eighties, releasing eight studio albums along the way.
Stuart Mitchell, who’s “not bad” at science, spoke to Wunderground about the latest developments, “It’s brilliant, I’ve been a massive fan of The Chemical Brothers for about fifteen years now. To be honest, I thought they might have made it onto the Queen’s new year honours list but I guess this is the next best thing.”
“When you look at the periodic table and see who the lads are beside up there it’s clear that it’s quite a big deal,” claimed Stuart. “There’s oxygen and water, we need them to live. Then there’s sodium and chloride, when you put them together you get salt and that’s what we put on our chips so it’s a real honour for them to be up there is such amazing company.”
“It’s also great to know that children will be learning about The Chemical Brothers in science class,” continued Stuart, a thirty year old street sweeper. “When I was a kid we didn’t learn anything about music or anything fun in school, it was all Shakespeare this and long division that so at least now they’ll be learning about things that they’ll actually be able to use when they grow up.”
Brother Ed Simons had this to say, “It’s such an unbelievable honour to have made it onto the periodic table. Never in our wildest dreams did we think this journey would take us here back in 1989 when we started. We’d like to thank all of the other elements for making up the planet and helping us get to where we are today.”
According to reports, The Chemical Brothers will be given the symbol 2Es, which represents a “double drop”, something a lot of people will associate with The Chemical Brothers.
