A drunk man has revealed that he stands to save a “small fortune” by taking full advantage of happy hour at his local bar.
Steven Elliot, a twenty five year old from Dublin, explained that he could save up to twenty euros a week thanks to a ‘Buy 2 Get 1 Free’ offer which has been recently introduced to the pub every Friday between five and seven o’clock.
Mr. Elliot explained his claim last Friday, “It’s brilliant all I have to do is be in the bar every Friday and I’m onto a winner, then it’s just sit back, drink my beers and watch the money roll in.”
“I’ve got two hours to do my drinking so if I time it right I should easily be able to drink fifteen bottles,” he explained with the assuredness of a drunk. “That’s five free bottles, which works out as a saving of about twenty pounds a week, it doesn’t seem like much but over the course of a year that’s….,” he said before pausing to work out the figure in his head.
“It’s fucking loads so it is,” he eventually continued after giving up on the maths. “Easily enough to take me bird on a nice holiday to Bray or even a few trips into town for a Burger King and the cinema,” he added. “It’s the easiest money I’ve ever made, I’m actually thinking of looking for other pubs that are doing happy hours and maybe starting up a bit of a circuit.”
When asked about the forty euro he needed to spend to make the twenty euro saving Mr. Elliot responded, “What are you talking about? It doesn’t matter how much you spend, the third bottle is free so the more you drink the more you save. Fucking hell, it’s not rocket science.”
Pub owner, Martin McHugh, is said to be “fucking chuffed” with the popularity of Friday night’s happy hour and is already planning on buying a new car after hearing news of a local drinking syndicate, who plan on pooling their resources every Friday in a bid to “save a few bob for the Christmas”.
