Andrew Lloyd Webber has confirmed that he is set to co-write an EDM musical with Russian born DJ and producer Zedd.
Earlier today Webber revealed that he had been approached by Zedd, real name Anton Zaslavski, in January of this year about the possibility of a collaboration and that “after some serious consideration” he has decided to go ahead with the project.
He spoke to Wunderground about the announcement, “When I was first approached by Zedd I naturally thought he was the character with the crazy voice from the Police Academy movies. I always loved that wacky little bastard and I would have jumped at the opportunity to work with him, but after finding out who he really was I had to think long and hard about the proposal.”
“The script which Zedd provided me with was really very good,” claimed Webber with an over dramatic wave of his hands. “It tells the story of Jack, a young man who goes out on a Friday night to try and score some ecstasy pills but ends up on a roller coaster of a journey and scores the love of his life instead.”
“The dialogue is absolutely amazing. There’s a scene where our two main characters are at an after party and Jack is trying to explain something to the lead female,” explained Mr. Lloyd Webber, “but he keeps forgetting what he’s taking about and for thirty minutes it’s basically just him asking ‘What was I saying there?’ before remembering only to forget again in under a minute. It truly is a remarkable piece of work.”
“It also has a very passionate and emotional love scene, where Jack frustratingly tries, and fails, to get an erection for nearly forty five minutes,” he continued. “Before eventually sobbing himself to sleep in the arms of his very outwardly understanding, but inwardly disappointed, new lover. It’s a glowing modern take on all the classic love stories.”
Zedd, a classically trained musician, is said to be delighted to finally have the opportunity to work with someone with musical integrity after recently producing and remixing tracks for the likes of The Black Eyed Peas and Justin Bieber.
