Wildlife photographers all over the world have reported a strange new phenomenon, which sees ducks pulling a “girl face” every time they attempt to take a photo of them.
National Geographic avian photographer Nigel Hawkins first reported the incident when shooting a flock of Aylesbury ducks in Buckinghamshire, England.
“It was really strange, I’ve been photographing birds for almost forty years now and after a while one becomes accustomed to their movements,” claimed Hawkins earlier. “It’s very rare that we see any sort of change in their behaviour so to see them actually turning towards the camera and pulling girl faces was truly remarkable.”
“Every time I’d focus on a duck they would pause, tilt their heads slightly to the side, suck their beaks right into their mouths and bulge their eyes out,” he explained. “They kind of looked a bit like that skank of the telly, Katie Hopkins, only a lot more feminine.”
According to Hawkins, the strange behaviour didn’t stop with the faces, he continued, “After a while, they started to get out of the water, stand up straight, place one wing on what would be their equivalent of a hip and huddle around the camera in gangs of five or six. It really was astonishing behaviour.”
Duck spokesperson Quack Quack-Quack had this to say, “Quack quack quack quack….. quack, quack, quack…. Quack. Quack. Quack!”
We’re not entirely sure what that means but we presume it was something like this “We’re ducks, you’re humans, see how stupid we look making a face like yours? Well you look equally as stupid making a face like ours. Stop doing it you morons”.
