A man who actually told the truth on his online dating profile and admitted that his main hobbies involved drinking, taking drugs and clubbing has been hailed as a hero for his honesty and has enjoyed massive success with potential dates as a result.
Jay Benson, a 27 year old graphic designer, decided to set up a dating profile on popular dating site POF.com “for the craic” while drunk one night without exercising any kind of filter in the About Me section.
“Most people lie and make shit up,” explained POF.com’s Alan Davidson. “But instead of bullshitting people by saying he enjoyed travelling, keeping fit and classical music, Jay just straight truth-bombed it and was open about his passion for drugs, booze and clubs.”
“I actually have been getting a lot of dates as a result,” explained Jay over a pint. “It turns out the vast majority of people my age are quite into binge drinking and clubbing.”
Jay says that while he posted his truthful hobbies in a pique of honesty he has no regrets and admits that it’s an “excellent way to avoid potential dates with people who he won’t connect with, mainly those that aren’t into the club scene preferring instead, em, whatever it is that people who don’t drink do on the weekends…staying in maybe?”
Some of Jay’s other hobbies not listed are said to include “wanking in work, eating Frosties naked, compulsive gambling and picking and eating the snots of sleeping lovers” but suggests that for the sake of any future social interaction with potential dates he “probably won’t mention them”.
