Cyclist Listening To Electro Imagining He’s In The Movie Tron

A cyclist listening to electro music while careening past traffic at high speed is having an involved and elaborate fantasy that he is in the cult classic film Tron.

The high octane fantasy is believed to be making 25 year old pushbike courier Derek Campbell cycle up to 25% faster and more dangerously, a statistic which he has giddily described as “badass” and which he says makes him feel “exactly like Flynn from the film”.

Derek claims that fantasising that he’s Flynn makes cycling 100% more exciting insisting that ducking in and out of cars is much more fun when you think “that there are other Users trying to defeat you” and that even mundane things like dropping gear before a red light or indicating is made “infinitely more fun when you imagine you’re competing in a Light Cycle”.

“It’s amazing, it makes the cycle so much more epic when you’ve got banging electro pumping in your ears,” claimed an excited Derek who listed his favourite cycling music as Dave Clarke World Series 1 Electro Mix. “I like to pedal to the music while whizzing past cars and imagine that other cyclists are trying to destroy me.”

Reports claim that Derek has so far only nudged ten surprised fellow cyclists off the road into parked cars or pedestrians leading to serious injury. “I like to imagine them exploding in a shower of digitised sparks when they bloodily smash into pavement,” he laughed. “But unfortunately they’re usually just very seriously injured but luckily I can just cycle away without helping them, just like in the film.”

“I think most of the cyclists on my route home are having intricate fantasies that they’re in Tron or the video game Wipeout or trying to get ET away from the unspecified ‘bad men’, at the very least they’re cycling to the beat of whatever they’re listening to,” explained Derek. “It makes the cycle so much more intense and rewarding, like sex or badminton.”

“It also helps you get home quicker,” concluded Derek. “I got home from work in about ten minutes, or three tracks in cycling terms, which is a personal best. That was even after I had to slow down when that Neil Young track came on for the last few hundred metres. I can’t lash the pedals with the mechanical pulse of an electro beat when Neil Young is wailing in my ear.”
