Front Porch Voted Fourth Best Place To Sleep After Drunken Night Out In DJ Mag Poll
The humble front porch was a surprise inclusion in this years DJ Mag Top 100 Places To Sleep After A Drunken Nigh Out poll.
The front porch was beaten into the top three by your bed, somebody else’s bed and the ever present couch, however with the front porch debuting at an impressive number four this year it will surely be a real contender for the top spot in 2015.
Patrick Rice, of the Rice & Co. Porch company, spoke about the surprise inclusion, “My family has been involved in the design, construction and maintenance of front porches for five generations and this is without doubt the highlight of that time. It’s a very proud moment for everyone in the porch industry, who knows maybe if we beg enough on social media sites we could go even further next year.”
Voters in this year’s pole indicated that it was a mixture of warmth, dryness, safety and close proximity to their house that made them vote for the front porch, they also seemed to think that front porches were more attractive to look at than bushes, police cells and bus shelters, all of which fell down the places in this year’s poll.
Sleep expert Mike Napman also spoke about the topic, “We really can’t pinpoint exactly what it is that makes a front porch such an attractive prospect when it comes to sleeping after a night on the town,” he commented. “There are so many factors to be taken into account but we believe that keys being such a bastard to use when you’re pissed up may play a big role in creating the seemingly perfect sleeping environment.”
“There’s also not quite enough space in an average porch for a person to stretch out fully forcing people to lie in the fetal position which subconsciously triggers feelings of warmth and safety carried in your brain since time spent in the womb,” he added.
Porches all over the world are set to see an increase in their popularity after the poll’s results and many can expect to sign lucrative advertisement and sponsorship deals on the back of their new found fame. Early reports already indicate that one lucky porch in Los Angeles has signed a six figure contract with Calvin Klein and is set to feature heavily in their up coming fall line catalog.
