In news that will both surprise and delight members of the Jewish community, Mel Gibson has been given the green light to direct bawdy Holocaust comedy ‘The Road To Auschwitz’.
The light hearted romp will tell the story of Olaf, an overweight road worker indifferent to the plight of the Jews, who purposefully gets himself detained at a concentration camp in a zany scheme to lose weight.
The 80 million dollar production, based on a script co-written by Gibson himself, is set to film across Europe early next year.
Though most would find the task of mining one of the most horrific events in history for laughs daunting, Gibson is seemingly unfazed by the task.
“For every tear there’ll be at least three laughs!” boasts the Lethal Weapon heart throb.
Kevin James is in talks to star.
