Richie Hawtin today revealed the unique new stage show that he will be using for his upcoming live Plastikman dates to coincide with the release of the new Plastikman album – a giant semi inflated plastic bag.
“It’s going to be amazing,” enthused an excited Richie when Wunderground caught up with him cutting the sleeves off some of his t-shirts to form makeshift vests. “I’m following the idea of a plastic man to its logical conclusion and that’s going to mean me performing these shows in what I’ve envisioned as a kind of plastic chrysalis or womb where I and the music will grow together before breaking free at the end, sort of like Roger Waters’ The Wall except in a giant, whale-sized condom.”
Reports suggest that Hawtin will only have a limited supply of oxygen when inside the bag, dubbed the rubber johnny, and that he must complete the set, or gestation period, before the allotted amount of oxygen runs out leaving Richie choking for life on the floor of the stage while the crowd look on aghast at the unfolding tragedy and yet loving the music.
“There’s only going to be a specific amount of air in the bag for the show which I estimate should last about four hours which is roughly the time of the set,” continued Richie, who was now trying on the vests he had just made, checking both the front and the back before assessing which side of his head he should dress his trademark spiky quiff on. “Harry Houdini is someone I’ve always admired and so the plan is that I finish the set and escape from the condom then return for the encore.”
“I have to be extra careful my razor sharp hair doesn’t cut the bag too early, I’ve already burst three prematurely because of it,” he added.
Richie, who settled on placing his quiff on the left side of his head claiming that the right side is the gay side, is set to be dressed in a unique sperm costume for the event which will be flesh coloured latex designed by himself in collaboration with a giant penis.
“The costume is cool, it’s kind of a latex leather that looks really sexy,” continued Richie. “It being latex I can actually use it to have sex in too, which I just might do.”
